As the ACT Government’s inaugural Coordinator, Active Travel Office, Anna was responsible for imitating a wide range of programs and projects to encourage greater uptake of walking and cycling as a mode of transport.
One such initiative was the introduction of Australia’s first Park & Pedal Program. Designed to encourage behaviour change, the initiative promoted the concept for week-day commuters to drive only part-way to work, park their cars, and pedal their bikes the remainder of the journey.
Anna worked across Government Directorates to identify suitable carpark locations, against a set of agreed criteria, and to deliver a coordinated communications and marketing strategy. The initiative was so successful that the responsible Minister immediately requested the program be extended to incorporate a range of additional locations and geographies across the region.
